Do you also love to go out, but can you also enjoy a 'Sunday Bake Day' at home? We get you! You want to make this banana bread honey topping recipe on such a day, because sweet lord; we can't get enough of this! The combination of banana bread, cream cheese and the crunchy honeycomb: we. just. love. it.
Double karma points: check!
Besides that this bananabread honey topping recipe will satisfy all your 'sweet cravings', you are also being doubly sustainable. To start with, our banana breads are of course made from saved bananas, with which we fight against the sh*t load of food waste. But did you know that honey is also very sustainable? It is a by-product (literally and figuratively) of the fertilization process of vegetables and fruit; an essential process for the products you buy in the supermarket. And without those smart bees, this sweet stuff would not exist. So while you are eating this, you are doing so well that you can treat yourself to that extra slice, you know. Blame this one on us.
1 SUNT banana bread
100 g cream cheese (at room temperature)
30 g butter (at room temperature)
65 g honey (preferably organic)
25 g icing sugar
100 g granulated sugar
5 g baking soda
Optional: white chocolate (see tip!)
Line a baking sheet or oven dish with baking paper and set aside.
Place the sugar together with 25 grams of honey in a saucepan and stir.
Heat this mixture until it starts to boil and stop stirring.
When the mixture is amber in color (about 2-4 minutes after boiling), remove from heat and quickly whisk in the baking soda (if you have a candy thermometer you can use a temperature of 150 degrees). Watch your hands because this mixture will form a lot of bubbles and is hot!
Pour the hot mixture onto the lined baking sheet and allow to harden.
In the meantime, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth and fluffy.
Add the powdered sugar and remaining honey and mix until smooth.
Cut the banana bread in half horizontally and spread half of the topping on the bottom half.
This recipe for healthy banana oatmeal cookies with chocolate is for everyone who doesn't like an exploded kitchen, who would rather eat than cook, who could still hurt themselves with a garlic press and who only bakes in the sun and not in the kitchen. This one is for you! With only 3 ingredients and 15 minutes of prep time (really, no misleading '5-minute-jamie-oliver' practices here!) you're going to be very happy with these. And what's also very nice is that no sugar, oil, egg, or milk is added to these. Vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free... make them however you like! They are healthy either way.
Sushi bowl, poké bowl, salad bowl and now also a banana bread breakfast bowl. Completely in line with the latest food trend, which you can't have missed. Food bowl businesses are popping up everywhere and of course we are happy to participate. That's why we have our breakfast bowl with banana bread. But who are we to say that this bowl can only be used as a breakfast bowl? Of course you can also prepare the bowl for lunch and take it to work. Heat it up or eat it as is, both are possible.
You have team savory and you have team sweet tooth and sometimes you play in both teams. Eating from two plates they call it, we prefer to see it as 'best of both worlds'. Joining in?
Sweet and savoury go well together in our opinion; chips with tea or the ultimate combination of peanut butter and cucumber. But the best thing of course is when your tasty snack is also a healthy sweet snack! And that is of course not only nice for your own body, but for that of your entire family.
This healthy zucchini blueberry banana bread recipe is perfect for the summer temperatures. Have you also noticed that you prefer to eat a salad for dinner in the summer instead of potatoes, meat and vegetables? That is why we made the ideal healthy summer snack. Easily digestible, full of vegetables, fruit and to lick your fingers; zucchini blueberry banana bread!
Give me (s')more! Banana bread s'mores is probably a recipe that will give most people flashbacks to the past. There's nothing like a warm campfire, a big bag of marshmallows and a good bar of chocolate from Handsoffmychocolate to get the most out of your s'mores. Now we understand that not every day can be like this and that is why we have transformed a recipe of old-fashioned s'mores into a somewhat easier version with banana bread. And the nice thing is that you can simply make this banana bread s'mores sandwich in the oven and therefore do not have to deal with lighters, wood and other flammable things. Very safe, unless you let this recipe burn later. But we are not going to assume that!
Bonbons are not really known as the healthiest snack. Due to the filling of sugar, liqueur or cream they are real calorie bombs. That is why we have replaced the filling with banana bread without refined sugar and nut spread. For this we use the cashew and chocolate spread from Yespers, but it can also be done with your favorite peanut butter! You can get 6 bonbons from one slice of our banana bread. Healthy bonbon treat? You can get 30 (!) balls from one loaf. For the chocolate coating we use the 85% vegan dark chocolate from Handsoff, but here too you can combine endlessly with different types of chocolate. As an extra topping we have sprinkled some coconut flakes over it. That way those little calorie bombs have suddenly become a healthy snack, perfect for Mother's Day for example!
If you like Pina Coladas… then you will also love this banana bread with coconut and pineapple! In the summer or on a faraway holiday, Pina Colada is our favorite drink. And during these cold days, this banana bread with coconut and pineapple is the perfect summer escape. Oh, and did we already mention that it is a virgin pina colada banana bread? Of course, you can choose to make this banana bread even 'nicer' with a dash of rum. That's up to you! Virgin or not; we think they are both great for breakfast!
Cake pops are not really known as the healthiest snack. Because of the butter cake and the cream cheese, they are real calorie bombs and do not fall under the category 'healthy' at all. That is why we replaced the butter cake with banana bread without refined sugar. And the cream cheese, we simply do not use that at all! Instead, we use dates to form the banana bread crumbs into balls and to make them deliciously (naturally) sweet. That way, those little calorie bombs have suddenly become a healthy snack. And because you now have healthy cake pops, you can easily choose an extra tasty topping. Like white chocolate for example!
Oh my, it's peanutbutter jelly time! Probably one of the most divine combinations; peanut butter banana bread with jam. That's why we added a touch of chocolate! In the spirit of 'if you're going to sin a little, do it right!' And no, we don't mean shove everything in your mouth, but choose something that you really, really like! And determine your portion in advance. That way you won't feel guilty afterwards. And that's nice!

How healthy is peanut butter actually? There are now countless types of peanut butter and one claims to be even healthier than the other peanut butter. Until a year ago, the peanut butter shelf in the supermarket was not very innovative and we blindly grabbed the Calvé peanut butter at eye level on the shelf. Nowadays, choice stress is guaranteed if you are looking for a healthy nut butter. From almond paste, hazelnut paste and peanut butter in every flavor you can think of. And my goodness, the prices are not bad either! But is the peanut butter that you can find on the shelf of the supermarket healthy?
